2016 — North America Limitations Agent, PayPal
Started reviewing unauthorized and high-risk transactions for the North American market, completing specialist training in fraud, KYC, spoof, and IRS limitations compliance. Recognised with the Magnificent 7 Award, Best KDI Award, and PayPalian of the Month.
2019 — Chargeback Risk & Platform Analyst, PayPal Credit
Resolved chargeback actions across APAC, EMEA and AU, tracked fraudulent account activity, and produced regular fraud-risk reporting to support PayPal's broader risk strategy across multiple jurisdictions.
2019 — Present — Fraud Data Analyst (P2P), PayPal
Built data-driven fraud detection for PayPal's Friends & Family product — analysing large transaction datasets to spot scam patterns, designing rule-based defences against flash-fraud trends, and building internal dashboards used to forecast and act on fraud risk. Awarded a SPOT Award from PayPal's SVP of Risk for scam-detection work that saved an estimated $3.2 million at 84% accuracy.
2021 — ICA Certificate in Anti-Money Laundering
Completed formal AML certification through the International Compliance Association, deepening expertise in financial crime compliance.
2023 — Certificate in Data Analytics for Business
Studied at Dundalk Institute of Technology to sharpen the data analytics skills behind every fraud rule I build — SQL, Power BI, Google BigQuery and Looker.
Senior Risk Analyst, Google Play & Android
Now working at platform scale — helping protect the Google Play and Android ecosystem from fraudulent and scam-driven apps, bringing the same fraud-pattern thinking from PayPal to billions of devices worldwide.
2026 — Building Scam-Less
Taking everything learned from a decade fighting fraud at two of the world's largest platforms, and putting it into a free tool anyone can use — no account, no enterprise contract, no cost.
Why this matters
Scam losses across Ireland and the UK are rising every year, and the tools that actually work — the kind banks and big institutions use — are priced for banks and big institutions. A credit-union-grade fraud detection platform can cost hundreds or thousands of pounds a month. The people who need protection the most never see anything close to that.
I built Scam-Less to close that gap. It uses the same kind of AI-driven detection that enterprise tools use, but it's free, it takes seconds, and it doesn't require you to trust a company with your data to use it.
I've spent my career watching scams evolve in real time, and watching how much a single well-built rule can protect people at scale. The $3.2 million figure from my time at PayPal wasn't an abstract number — it was thousands of individual people who didn't lose money to a scam because a system caught it first. I wanted to bring that same protection to people who'll never have a fraud team working behind the scenes for them.
